Les amiibos sont des figurines produites par Nintendo qui sont équipées de la technologie NFC (Near-Field Communication) et qui peuvent être utilisées dans une grande variété de jeux Wii U et Nintendo 3DS, dans laquelle il y a Splatoon.

Splatoon

Le 1er avril 2015, Nintendo a annoncé, lors d’un Nintendo Direct, que Splatoon allait recevoir trois amiibos différents le 29 mai 2015. Ces figurines, quand elles sont scannées dans la place de Chromapolis, débloquent vingt niveaux différents avec cinq défis de boss déblocables dans l’Octavallée et trois pièces exclusives d’équipements chacune à porter lors des combats. Ces trois amiibos qui ont été annoncés sont le Garçon Inkling, la Fille Inkling et le Calamar Inkling. L’amiibo du calamar fut disponible seulement dans un pack spécial renfermant les trois amiibos d’un coup, en Amérique du Nord, et dans l’offre Splatoon + amiibo calamar Inkling en Europe.

Over a year after, a second wave of figures was announced, including the Squid Sisters, Callie and Marie, and three reskins of the amiibo from the previous wave.

Gameplay

La boîte d’amiibo est située au sud-est de Chromapolis et elle apparaît comme étant une boîte traditionnelle (avec son design attitré). Quand l’amiibo est scanné (et s’il est enregistré), des cercles de peinture (de plusieurs couleurs) apparaissent et le personnage correspondant à l’amiibo apparaît donc dans cette boîte. Les personnages introduisent eux-mêmes leurs paroles pour guider vers les défis qu’ils proposent.

Chaque amiibo de la vague n°1 donne vingt défis et sont réalisables uniquement si le mode solo, l’Octavallée, a été complétée. Le premier défi donne au joueur six cents pièces comme récompense, avec celle-ci qui se voit ajouter cent pièces supplémentaires au prochain défi (par exemple, si une mission donne 1 000 pièces en récompense, la prochaine donnera 1 100 pièces). Chaque défi peut être réalisé à nouveau, mais seulement pour une récompense de 100 pièces. Il y a, à chaque fois, quatre rangées avec deux colonnes : la première contient trois défis normaux avec des contraintes posées par l’amiibo, et la seconde contient les boss correspondant à chaque arène. Ces boss sont déblocables une fois que les trois défis de gauche, de la rangée correspondante, sont complétés. À l’inverse de la récompense sous forme de pièces, les défis de boss donnent des pièces d’équipement : celui de l’arène n°1 donne un accessoire, celui de l’arène n°2 donne un vêtement et celui de l’arène n°3 donne une paire de chaussures. Le boss de l’arène n°4 donne un mini-jeu et celui de l’arène n°5 donne l’arme imposée lors des défis (autrement dit : la fille Inkling donnera donc un Concentraceur). Ces armes sont héroïques, mais possèdent les mêmes sets que leurs armes de base (Lanceur héroïque = Liquidateur / Concentraceur héroïque = Concentraceur / Rouleau héroïque = Rouleau).

Les amiibos représentant les Calamazones permettent au joueur de voir des concerts sur la place qui est décorée comme durant un Splatfest. Les trois recolorations de la vague n°1 débloquent les mêmes choses que leurs versions originelles. La liste des défis est partagée entre les amiibos originels et recolorés (donc le Garçon Inkling violet aura les mêmes défis que le Garçon Inkling bleu).

Garçon Inkling

Je te vois encore tirer sur ces tentamachins dans tes fringues super classe ! Je me suis dit : « voilà quelqu’un qui est taillé pour relever mes défis ! » Alors voilà le topo : tu finis les mêmes missions, mais avec un rouleau ! C’est dans tes cordes ? Je saurai te récompenser si t’y arrives !	”

Équipement de samouraï and Rouleau héroïque

L’amiibo du Garçon Inkling est sorti le 29 mai 2015, en même temps que Splatoon. Il peut être utilisé pour débloquer 20 défis Rouleau dans l’Octavallée et peut débloquer de nouvelles choses telles qu’un mini-jeu, ou des pièces d’équipement, tous les 4 niveaux complétés (en sachant que ces quatre niveaux font partie de la même rangée). Après avoir complété tous les défis, le joueur récupèrera, au final : l’équipement de samouraï, le mini-jeu Sprint-qui-peut et le Rouleau héroïque. Il peut être acheté individuellement (partout) ou dans le pack de trois avec les amiibos représentant la Fille Inkling et le Calamar Inkling (seulement en Amérique du Nord).

L’amiibo original du Garçon Inkling est un Inkling habillé de façon claire avec des tentacules bleus et des yeux bleus. Il porte des Lentilles sans correction, un Haut double Leviathus, et des Hippo montantes violettes. Il utilise le Liquidateur.

L’amiibo recoloré du Garçon Inkling est habillé de façon foncée avec des tentacules violets, et des yeux orange. Il porte des Lentilles sans correction, un Haut double Cubic, et des Hippo montantes dorées. Il utilise le Liquidateur Griffé

Fille Inkling

School Gear and Hero Charger Replica

The Inkling Girl amiibo was released on May 29, 2015 alongside Splatoon. It can be used to unlock 20 Charger challenges in Octo Valley and rewards the player with an exclusive costume piece for every four challenges completed. After completing all challenges, the player will complete the set and receive the exclusive School Gear along with the Squidball minigame and the Hero Charger Replica blueprints. It can be purchased individually or in a pack of three with the Inkling Boy and Inkling Squid amiibo in North America.

The original Inkling Girl amiibo is a light-skinned Inkling with orange tentacles and orange eyes. She wears the Fake Contacts, White Tee, and Pink Trainers and carries the Splattershot.

The recolored Inkling Girl's skin color remains unchanged, but her tentacles are lime green and her eyes are magenta. She wears the Fake Contacts, the Black Tee, and the Black Trainers and carries the Tentatek Splattershot.

Calamar Inkling

Power Gear and Hero Shot Replica

The Inkling Squid amiibo was released on May 29, 2015. It can be used to unlock 16 Kraken and 4 limited-Ink challenges, and shooter challenges in Octo Valley and will provide the player with an exclusive costume piece after every four challenges completed. After completing all the challenges, the player will complete the set and receive the exclusive Power Gear along with the Squid Beatz minigame and the Hero Shot Replica blueprints. It is available exclusively for purchase in a pack of three with the Inkling Boy amiibo and the Inkling Girl amiibo in North America, and exclusively in a bundle with the main game in Europe. 

The original Inkling Squid amiibo is a green Inkling in squid form, and the recolored Inkling Squid is orange.

Challenges

The Inkling Squid amiibo allows players to complete specific Octo Valley missions in two ways: some can be completed as a Kraken with limited time, and others must be completed with limited ink. In the Kraken Challenges, the player is given the ability to turn into a Kraken instead of a Squid for the entirety of the level. In limited ink challenges, the player is given three or four full Ink Tanks to complete the level, but ink cannot be replenished. The challenges are as follows:

Squid Sisters

Amiibo of Callie and Marie were released on July 8th, 2016. They can be used to unlock exclusive in-game Squid Sisters concerts. Using either of the Squid Sisters causes the Plaza to take on its' appearance during Splatfest, and the player will be colored after and wearing a Splatfest Tee for whichever Squid Sister was used. During the concert, no buildings can be entered, nor can Judd be talked to.

The Squid Sisters can perform the following songs, each with its' own dance routine:

• "Ink Me Up" (Splatfest battle theme)
• "Now or Never!" (Splatfest battle theme with 1 minute remaining)
• "City of Color" (Splatfest plaza theme)
• "Maritime Memory" (Credits theme)
• "Calamari Inkantation (DJ Octavio phase 2 theme)
• "Bomb Rush Blush"^(NA/EU/OC)/"Tokimeki ☆ Bomb Rush"^(JP) (Callie solo; can only be chosen with Callie amiibo)
• "Tide Goes Out" (Marie solo; can only be chosen with Marie amiibo)

Third-party usage

amiibo tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits

amiibo tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits, known in Europe and Australia as amiibo Touch & Play: Nintendo Classics Highlights, is a downloadable application for Wii U that allows amiibo owners to try out classic NES and SNES games. All amiibo figures work with the application.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

In Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, the Splatoon amiibo figures can be used for a 1-UP Mushroom. Most of the other amiibo figures can be used for this as well, however.

Chibi Robo! Zip-Lash

In Chibi Robo! Zip-Lash, tapping any amiibo except the Chibi Robo amiibo gives you in-games coins.

Hyrule Warriors

The Splatoon amiibo figures can be tapped once a day in Hyrule Warriors for a weapon rated 3 stars or lower, a Rupee bonus, or a crafting material bonus. Most of the other amiibo figures can be used for this as well, however.

Mario Party 10

The Splatoon amiibo figures can be tapped in Mario Party 10 for a Scratch Bonus and Mario Party Points. Most of the other amiibo figures can be used for this as well, however.

Mini Mario and Friends: amiibo Challenge

In Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, any Splatoon amiibo figure can be used to start the game. This is the same for all other amiibo, though. However certain amiibo from the Super Mario series unlock extra stages and have special abilities as well.

Pokkén Tournament

The Splatoon amiibo figures can be tapped once a day in Pokkén Tournament for an avatar costume item, a title, or a Poké Gold bonus. Up to 5 amiibo rewards can be claimed per day. Most of the other amiibo figures can be used for this as well, however.

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker features Mario skins of numerous Nintendo characters through amiibo. Splatoon amiibo will grant the player with a costume resembling the scanned character. The Inkling Squid can assume humanoid form and is revealed to be a dark-skinned male with a Splat Roller, the Studio Headphones, the White Layered LS, and what appears to be the Cream Basics. The Callie and Marie costumes can alternatively be unlocked by playing an Event Course.

Word Puzzles by POWGI

In Word Puzzles by POWGI, scanning in any amiibo generates a word puzzle based on the owners Mii name and the nickname of the amiibo.

Yoshi's Woolly World

Trivia

• The Inkopolis Plaza out of bounds glitch reveals that the back of the amiibo case at the southeastern corner does have a texture and looks like the back of real amiibo packaging, except the words are written in Inkling.
• The Inkling Girl's amiibo is the basis for its trophies in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
